Sleep Prescription
Over 15% of Americans suffer from poor quality sleep. This is a staggering figure and if you are one of the millions out there suffering, a “sleep prescription” would probably be the first thing you’d want to get your hands on. Many people shy away from prescription sleep aids because of the many side effects associated with them, but its hard to find many natural products that will knock you out as quickly. Sleep Prescription claims to offer a safe way to sleep well.
Sleep Prescription Ingredients
This sleep aid includes a 435 mg “proprietary blend” of the following ingredients:
- Helicidum
- Siberian Gingseng
- Schizandra
- Hops extract
- Valerian Root extract
Typically we prefer products that give the exact concentrations of each ingredient so that we know you’re getting the right amount of each, but in general this is a fairly promising formula. Helicidum is one of the less common ingredients you’ll see in an herbal sleep aid as it has not had many studies done on it and there is not a lot of safety information about it.
Sleep Prescription Sleep Inducing Effects
The most helpful herbs here will probably be valerian and hops, though it is difficult to tell whether this has the right dosage and combination to be effective. Ultimately this will formula should provide a mild relaxing effect. Siberian ginseng is not typically known for its ability to help you sleep, though it may increase mental performance. In this case, however, the dose would not be high enough.
Sleep Prescription Possible Side-Effects
Though there isn’t enough evidence to say helicidum is completely safe at this point, the rest of the formula is generally safe. One general concern is that this product should not be used by women who are pregnant or nursing.
Sleep Prescription Overall Value
For $40, this product is about average in nominal terms, but given its fairly weak dosage and unclear side effect, there isn’t a lot to be said for it really. Surely a good night’s sleep is worth more than a dollar a night (you’d be paying about $1.35 per night with this) but other than a handful of testimonials there isn’t much to convince us that it’s worth your money. As well, there is no mention of a money-back guarantee, which is a must-have for products like this. Nice idea, poor performance.
